Insurance for the Visa Application Center: MSZ Requirements for Your Policy

The requirements for the insurance policy for a Polish visa are set by Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ): a sum insured of at least EUR 30,000, an insurer on the list approved by MSZ, and a program designed for a visa application. Visa application centers, including TLS Contact, which accepts documents for Polish visas in Ukraine, among them the center in Lviv, work to these requirements on behalf of the consulate, so applicants face one clearly published standard. Universalna, PZU Ukraina, Kniazha, and ETS are on the approved list, and all the programs presented on this site meet the strict MSZ requirements: each of these companies has dozens of different programs, and the ones that fit a visa application are the ones you see on our site. This page explains where the approved list comes from and how our programs cover the MSZ requirements.

Who Sets the Policy Requirements: The MSZ Approved Insurer List

Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) publishes an official list of insurance companies approved for visa purposes. It covers both the EUR 30,000 minimum required by Article 15 of the EU Visa Code for Schengen (type C) visas and the equivalent requirement Poland's Act on Foreigners sets for national (type D) visas. Visa application centers like TLS Contact accept documents on behalf of the consulate and follow the same requirements, so an applicant only needs to meet one published standard. Universalna, PZU Ukraina, Kniazha, and ETS all appear on that approved list.

But a company being on the list does not mean any of its programs will do: each of these companies has dozens of different programs, and only the ones that meet the MSZ requirements fit a visa application. All the programs presented on our site meet these strict requirements: we selected and checked them specifically for visa submission. Buying the wrong program and getting a refusal over a simple mistake is very easy, so for a visa the calculator shows only suitable programs. That makes the choice of policy simple and predictable: MSZ sets the requirements, and we offer only programs that meet them.

How the MSZ requirements reach your policy
  1. Poland's MSZ Sets the policy requirements: a sum insured of at least EUR 30,000 and an insurer from the approved list
  2. Visa center or consulate Works to these requirements when accepting documents
  3. Your policy The programs on our site meet these requirements

Three Policy Parameters Under MSZ Rules and How Our Programs Cover Them

The MSZ requirements come down to three parameters of the policy, which the visa center applies when it accepts documents on behalf of the consulate: a sum insured of at least EUR 30,000, an insurer on the MSZ-approved list, and validity dates that cover the full planned stay. The first two are already built into the programs on our site: the calculator contains only programs designed for visa submission, so a mistake in choosing a program is ruled out, and every quote from Universalna, PZU Ukraina, Kniazha, and ETS meets the EUR 30,000 minimum and is issued specifically for visa submission rather than adapted from a general travel product. The validity dates follow from the dates you enter in the calculator, so enter them to match your actual travel plans and the policy will cover your whole stay.

Submitting directly at a consulate, or want to understand the requirement itself?

If your application goes directly to a consulate or embassy rather than through a visa application center, the same EUR 30,000 requirement applies; see the details on our dedicated page. Curious where that EUR 30,000 figure comes from in the first place? Read our full breakdown:

Answers to customers’ questions

  • A policy from our site meets the MSZ requirements under which the visa center accepts documents: a sum insured of at least EUR 30,000, an insurer on the MSZ-approved list, and a program designed for a visa application. All of this is built into the program itself, so for the insurance part of your document package the only thing left is to enter travel dates that match your plans.

  • Your policy needs to come from an insurer on the MSZ-approved list, and the program must meet the visa requirements: each company has dozens of different programs and not all of them fit. Our site presents only the visa programs of Universalna, PZU Ukraina, Kniazha, and ETS that meet the MSZ requirements, so you can pick between them based on price and coverage details, without the risk of buying an unsuitable program.

  • The requirements for the policy are set by MSZ together with Polish and EU law: a sum of at least EUR 30,000 and the list of approved insurers. The TLS Contact visa center accepts documents on behalf of the consulate and works to those requirements, so a policy that meets them is suitable at any visa center and when you submit directly at a consulate.

  • A policy below EUR 30,000 does not meet the minimum set by the EU Visa Code for a Schengen visa or by Poland's Act on Foreigners for a national visa, regardless of which insurer issued it. Every policy sold through our calculator meets the EUR 30,000 minimum from the start, so this is not something you need to worry about: the figure is shown on the checkout page before you pay.
